Scope
1.1 This provisional specification establishes uniform labeling criteria and package requirements for wet mops for household and institutional use. This standard does not apply to dry mops (that is, dust mops).
1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory requirements prior to use.
Note 1—Provisional standards require only subcommittee consensus and are published for a limited time of two years. The provisional process was used because many mops either are mislabeled or have confusing labels. This provisional standard was developed to assist manufacturers in conveying the exact mop components more precisely to the marketplace.
