1.1 This specification establishes recognized requirements for determining the child resistance of portable gasoline containers intended for use by consumers. This specification does not cover single-trip prepackaged containers.

1.2 This specification is not a fire hazard standard, but a specification for containers.

1.3 This specification also establishes requirements for determining senior adult use effectiveness of containers.

1.4 The values given in inch-pound units are to be considered the standard. The values in parentheses are for information only.
