This practice covers the determination of the amount of ink deposit on carbon paper and inked ribbons, other than fabric type. The apparatus includes the analytical balance, ultrasonic bath, and template or cutter. The requirements for the extraction solvent, test specimen preparation, and test specimen conditioning are detailed. The amount of ink deposit shall be gravimetrically determined by analytically weighing a conditioned test specimen. The ink deposit shall be removed by the use of a suitable solvent in an ultrasonic cleaner. The sample with the coating shall be conditioned and reweighed. The amount of ink deposit shall be calculated using the specified formula.

1.1 This practice covers the determination of the amount of ink deposit on carbon paper and inked ribbons, other than fabric type.
