Steel, Corrosion-Resistant, Bars, Wire, Forgings, Rings, and Extrusions 15Cr - 4.5Ni - 0.30Cb (Nb) - 3.5 Cu
Scope
This specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of bars, wire, forgings, flash welded rings, extrusions, and stock for forging, flash welded rings, or extruding. These products have been used typically for parts requiring corrosion resistance and high strength up to 600 Degrees F (316 Degrees C) with good ductility and strength in the transverse direction in large section sizes, but usage is not limited to such applications. Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP-1110 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
Notes
Claudia's Notes:
Revision N identifies a new procedure for ordering bars in the precipitation heat treated condition. It includes a restriction on bar being cut from plate and revises macrostructure requirements. Additional changes include the clarification of thickness of bars in section 3.5.2.2, the removal of the requirement for hardness testing after precipitation heat treatment in sections 4.2.1.4 and 4.4.2, the revision of Heat Treatment in section 3.4 and time tolerances for precipitation heat treatment in Table 3, the clarification of tensile orientation for transverse test in section 3.5.2.2.1.3, adds tolerances for extrusions in section 3.7, and revises reports (section 4.4) and ordering data (section 8.6).
