Scope
This standard covers the requirements for nondestructive testing, welding, quality control and identification and HI shock for piping system components. It does not apply to primary side components of nuclear ships.

MIL-STD-798 has been stable since it's release in 1965 (with one change notice in 1968 and a validation notice in 1988.) However it was changed to a "Standard Practice" in the 1990's as an administrative classification change due to Mil Spec reform.
